Quebec City based company, XpertSea, announced $1.3 million in seed funding from Real Ventures, a Canadian seed stage venture fund. The company provides inventory management solutions for aquaculture producers, specifically through its product, XperCount, a mechanism that can count tiny aquatic organisms in a fraction of the time it traditionally takes.

April 22nd – DuPont announced it’s acquisition of Taxon Biosciences for an undisclosed amount. Based in Tiburon, California, Taxon utilizes microbiome discovery to develop biological crop products. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter.

Grannus Closes $2 million Series A

Tuscon, Arizona based Grannus closed a $2 million Series A round from an undisclosed investor, the company announced on April 15th. The company produces nitrogen fertilizer.


Grannus was formed in 2012 to commercialize their process of developing nitrogen fertilzer.

Fargo, ND based startup, Botlink, just announced a $500,000 seed investment that closed in Q1 of this year. The company creates a cloud-based drone control application which it touts will simplify, and increase the safety of, drone operations.

Eaze, a pot delivery service for verified medical marijuana patients, recently announced a $10 million Series A financing led by DCM Ventures.


Utilizing an Uber-like smart phone interface, Eaze connects verified medical marijuana patients with licensed local dispensaries.
