Future Food: Why did AgFunder’s Yanniv Dorone & Quinten Eggink pick agri-foodtech?

January 9, 2020

In this episode, I speak to two members of AgFunder’s investment team who joined the company in 2019, Yanniv Dorone and Quinten Eggink. In another holiday special – shhh yes I know the holidays are over – they both share how they came to work in this industry and for AgFunder.

We talk about the categories they find most exciting and it was so cool to hear them talk about totally different segments of agri-foodtech; the diversity and opportunity of this industry always excites me. Again in the hot or not round, they had quite differing views of some current and future food trends!

As you’ll learn, Yanniv will soon complete his biology PhD at Stanford and is very excited about the alternative meat and dairy space, particularly cultivated options – unsurprising since he wrote the whitepaper for our New Carnivore fund! Quinten, a math graduate, started his career at IndieBio, the leading accelerator based in San Francisco, Ireland and recently New York, and is more bullish about plant-based alternatives over the cell replication approach, but also had lots to say about robotics and microbial seed products and wishes he’d invested in Pivot Bio!
