“What is foodtech? Isn’t that delivery? Delivery is so done!”
That’s what Nadia El Hadery remembers people saying back in 2015 when she held the first-ever London Food Tech Week. Nothing could be further from the truth, she tells me on this week’s edition of Future Food.
Nadia founded YFood, a media and events company based in the UK, organizing the first-ever food tech meetup in London as far back as 2013 with leading entrepreneurs such as the CEO of eGrocer FarmDrop. The landscape is very different today and food delivery is definitely not done, although much more mature.
In that first year, the event welcomed 7,500 guests throughout the week with expectations for thousands more this year at a time when “people are taking foodtech much more seriously.” London Food Tech Week is next week in fact — sign up here.
Nadia is an ex-investment banker so brings an excellent perspective to the space, as well as a deep understanding of the challenges facing both startups and corporates. She also has a fun sense of what the future food system will look like and a deep love for avocados!
AgFunder Co-Investment Fund III is now open for investment. Closing June 15, Spots are limited.
I hope you enjoy this edition.
