After a momentous 2023 edition, the GLOCAL Game Changers program is back for another year and invites agrifoodtech startups to apply for participation.
Agrifoodtech acceleration and investment fund GLOCAL focuses specifically on Latin America, a region rich in biodiversity and natural resources that simultaneously grapples with inefficient supply chains and a lack of access to financing and technology for farmers.
A host of agrifoodtech startups has emerged in recent years to address these and other issues facing Latin American farmers and food companies.
Argentina-based GLOCAL backs Latin American startups hoping to change agrifood, from production to nutrition, through tech and innovation. The firm’s growing portfolio currently includes the likes of agribusiness marketplace platform Agrofy, water conservation startup Kilimo, and biologicals company Puna Bio, among others.
The Game Changers program offers startups in the region the chance to join GLOCAL’s portfolio in addition to growing their businesses and forging new, valuable industry connections.
Who should apply
GLOCAL Game Changers looks for Latin American startups working at any point in the food value chain, from traceability platforms, marketplaces, and alternative foods to carbon neutrality, water management, climate tech, ag biotech, and ag fintech.
Startups should be at the early stages (Pre-seed, Seed, and Pre-Series A), with a validated minimal viable product and a team of full-time founders.
GLOCAL will pick five startups from the pool to participate in the program.
Applicants will have the opportunity to access an investment ticket of up to $500,000.
What past participants say
The 2023 edition of Game Changers saw more than 500 applicants and over 130 matches between startups and companies through business roundtables and other interactions. Key players from the industry provided 30 mentoring sessions to add value and specific insight to participating startups.
