FoodTech IL, an international conference and exhibition held in Tel Aviv each fall to showcase innovation in Israel’s burgeoning foodtech scene, has been postponed in the wake of unfolding events in Israel following the attacks launched by Hamas over the weekend.
The event, which is organized by The Strauss Group’s The Kitchen FoodTech Hub, was scheduled for November 7-8.
In a statement on the event website, the organizers explained: “To our dear speakers, startups, partners and guests. We are sorry to announce that following the severe terrorist attack by Hamas on Israel, we are postponing FoodTechIL 2023. We will update you as soon as possible on the next steps regarding our summit. We highly appreciate your understanding and support in these sad moments. Our hearts are with the families of the dead, wounded and missing.”
The event, which was expected to attract 3,000+ attendees, includes an educational program and a startup expo featuring 75+ Israeli startups, and is the major event in the foodtech calendar, bringing together startups and larger food companies, investors, distributors, retailers and foodservice executives, and the international media.
Last year’s event highlighted startups in everything from upcycled yeast proteins to shelf-stable alcoholic creams, antimicrobial proteins, high-tech indoor vanilla cultivation, no-sugar-added snack bars manufactured using compression and ultrasonic waves instead of sugary binders, and solid state fermentation for meaty flavors.
