This position is located in Northern California.

The Technical Sales Manager will provide the Sales Management and Product Development/Technical Service Specialist in the assigned territory assistance in managing our development program for existing and experimental biopesticides, and provide technical support to our field sales team.


Meet or exceed quarterly and annual revenue goals.
Develop a territory sales plan that includes all target agricultural markets.
Monitor sales versus forecast and channel inventory on a monthly basis.
Manage channel and end user relationships effectively to maximize sales and market share.
Execute a Pull Through strategy at the end user level.
Train Distributor/Dealer on the proper use of MBI products.
Develop strong internal working relationships with key MBI colleagues in Sales, Product Management, Product Development and key admin and R&D personnel.
Implement grower demos where appropriate.
Participate, present, and/or display at key industry meetings .
Prepare and implement a rigorous field efficacy program to expand the use of existing products and to determine best use practices of experimental biopesticides on crops that will maximize business opportunities within budgetary guidelines.
Leads in the implementation and reporting of field efficacy studies to satisfy specific marketing/registration objectives.
Prepares written and verbal reports including trial abstracts and scientific data summaries.
Establish and maintain strong and productive professional relationships with university research and extension and crop consultants within the territory.
Prepares and presents scientific data summaries to sales, marketing and regulatory teams.
Assist in training Territory Managers regarding new uses of existing products and biological characteristics of new products.
Provides technical assistance to Territory Managers regarding product inquiries.
Plans and leads tours of R&D field sites for both internal colleagues and external customers.
This position will cover the assigned territory.

Minimum M.Sc. in Entomology, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Weed Science or related agronomic field with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the research and development of crop protection/technical product support or a Ph.D. in the same fields of study with an emphasis on field research.
Knowledge of crop production systems including detailed knowledge of insect pests and/or plant diseases and/or weed science.
A working knowledge in statistics and experimental design.
Interpersonal skills required to communicate, advise, negotiate or influence others as well as build productive working relationships in both academic and commercial settings.
Analytical skills required to interpret and summarize scientific data and information.
Planning skills required to organize, prioritize, schedule and coordinate work activities for multiple projects  Must be skilled in MS Office suite and experience with ARM8 is preferred.
Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
The successful candidate must reside in Northern California.



Ability to sit at a desk for extended periods. Utilizing extensive use of computer, keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Ability to drive a vehicle for extended period of times to different locations.

Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.

Work may also be required in a venue such as a hotel or other organization’s meeting room, conference, or convention space with the possible inclusion of weekends.

Ability to walk in and around agricultural production sites to evaluate pest populations and crop conditions in all weather conditions.

Overnight travel to annual meetings/conferences (up to 7 consecutive days) required; overnight travel to other meetings (typically 1-5 consecutive days); inclusion of weekends may be involved.


Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in workload priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain strict confidentiality.


Ability to travel routinely domestically 25% – 50% of the time via car or by air.
