Position summary:

Join Benson Hill Biosystems to work on the cutting edge of crop design.  Our CropOS™ is the industry’s leading platform for gene editing and computational breeding.  We are recruiting a senior research associate to lead the crop improvement projects for a diversity of traits and crops.  Projects support both internal and co-development with other companies in an array of research objectives creating high value traits and germplasm.  The Senior Research Associate will establish project plans and budgets and will coordinate project execution by Benson Hill and contract research organizations.  Excellent organization, a can-do attitude, strong communication skills, ability to work effectively in teams, a mindset for continuous learning, and a strong background in genetic improvement technologies are keys for success.

·       Develop and prioritize strategies for executing research and development projects

·       Evaluate internal and external options for logistical execution of plans

·       Effectively communicate Benson Hill technical capabilities to partners and to design research plans and resourcing requirements to fit their objectives

·       Lead project execution across internal and external teams

·       Identify and acquire required germplasm and other resources

Education and Experience:

·       MS degree and 3+ years experience in plant breeding, horticulture, agronomy, biology, or related field

·       Expertise in one or more aspects of the crop research

Required Qualifications

·       Action-oriented and able to deliver results on challenging timelines

·       Solid understanding of gene editing and molecular breeding technologies and applications

·       Inquisitive nature and ability to engage broadly in scientific and business elements of crop design and delivery

·       Strong problem-solving capabilities

·       Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to lead complex operations and deliver challenging timelines
